 Same piece of driftwood as //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=42805. Just other side of it.

Used my wide angle lens. Crop, resize, USM to bring out the contrasts, Sharpen. Voila.

Beautiful subject matter - I feel I can't quite see the detail clearly enough. Lighting is intriguing but I think it's a touch dark towards the top which, to me, makes the overall image a little unbalanced. I like it best when I make it a square by cropping off the top - that seems to pull the focus more towards that wonderful sweeping curve.

Good shot, but I donĂ¢€™t really connect the photo to a creative interpretation of the theme texture. Not off topic or anything, but does the viewer connect it to texture? Or is there something in the picture that makes you think about other themes?

This looks overexposed in the highlight, which drew my attention there rather than to the other interesting parts of this shot.

Hmm. Like a canyon landscape. great depth of detail, great lighting at last (so few seem to understand that). I find the topmost section or piece of wood it seems perhaps too dissociated from the rest of it to be really coherent in this composition. The darkness might hurt you in general, but not from here.

Nice take on the Challenge. Good shadows and good rendition of the textures that constitute the challenge. I like the "face" that appears in the upper left on the wood. Good job.

Interesting subject matter. Would have liked to see this pic with slight rim lighting on right/shadow side of driftwood for better edge definition, but that's just me. ;)

Maybe a little too dark and contrasty on this one. I would have also cropped out the bright spot in the upper left. Strong texture.

Sorry if I sound critical, but there doesn't seem to be anything to focus on in this pic. My eyes tend to wander around the photo with nothing to land on.
