Cool photo, Jon. I think these would be amazing apartments. There's a lot of that kind of thing happening in the inner city here, too. Rather than letting buildings crumble, make them into something else.
Lovely choice of tones for this image. |

I think it would be so awesome to live in one of those restored apartments. I agree. . .there's nothing special about something old if it gets dilappidated and creates a run down look. It looks like they are doing a great job of maintaining the character and rich old look of the place.
I think this such a great photo to do in duotones. You did so good! I would love to visit there some day!

Nice choice for a colortone - I like how it emphasizes the sense of brick and wood. The only thing that's off for me is either that your pic is not straight or the Albert Warehouse is leaning to the left. :) |

I was so taken by the Albert Warehouse and the sky that I didn't notice the crop of the boats in front, and even when reminded, the boats don't bother me. These are docks! I love the processing. I have the impression that that this was a dark, cold day, and I want to get inside those cozy apartments. |

Jon
I love the comments and commentary that you provide with your photos. Excellent stuff!
I think the processing and contrasts of the darkness of the buildings and the sky work extremely well in this image.
However, the cropping of the boats in front really don't seem to fit the image for some strange reason. The way they are cropped (especially the sailboat in the foreground and how we only see a bit of the hull) and the fact that one is a very modern boat gives me a feeling that this is a quick snap.
A much closer-in shot with more height and less straight on set up would likely really help. The names and the details in these old warehouses are very cool - leveraging those attributes - would help this score better. |

Interesting buildings and an omnious sky. You better snatch up one of those condos soon. Beach front property is like gold. |

I don't see anything wrong with converting these into apts... that's actually something you see a lot in downtown KC. Personally, I think it's a great idea to maintain the buildings in any way possible. Love the conversion and sky. Only thing with the comp. is the boat missing the front, for me at least. |

i like old buildings so for me that helps. also like the color tone you chose. One negative thing is the bottom for me needs to have more of the water visible because it looks like the boats are on the street. 6 |

good choice for a rustic duotone but the composition is a bit flat |

focus seems just a smidgeon off, but i think the tones match the "atmosphere" very well. |

Great classic scene. I really like the tone used here as well. Although I don't like the boat on the right. It looks to modern for the old look you were going for here. Nice work non the less. |
