 Found this beauty at Dead Cow Airport (really!)
Infrared image converted to resized, B&W, levels, dodged, sharpened.
Converted Rebel XT with Tokina 10-17 fisheye at 14mm

Great contrast on the star on the plane, having a completely black background is good but a little artifical. It could do with just a little bit of something just to break it up and bring the image back into reality

I think you may have gone just a touch overboard with the softening effect. You seem to have lost quite a bit of detail, but perhaps that's what you were after, given your title...
