The "Bokeh" shot I should have entered since this at least has "CIRCLES". I have learned that pretty much in most cases, one would have to have light reflecting directly on the subject or the lens is aimed toward the light source. I walked around my yard and took many shots of trees, leaves and berries from different angles. After viewing them in photoshop all blown up I then noticed that I could see which shots had the rings and at what angle I was shooting into or away from the light source.
I do not have a lens that will go to f3 and below, which in some opinions on the subject will state this is the setting to get the effect. But then some say it is the f/stop to distance ratio (I think I am wording this correctly).
I shot this with my telephoto 55-200mm lens that has f3.8 at the lowest I have seen. I was focused in at 120mm, f8 1/120 secs. I have the circles and a clear subject in the background. I think this is a pleasant to look at image but not really an interesting one. It is a spruce with more than half of the shot blured with circles, hmmm. The image I entered did not have the "CLEAR CIRCLES" but had some faint circles throughout, but it is mostly oof. I had to shoot through a small clearing of branches, about 2-3 inch clearing of the spruce to capture the Pagoda (my subject) I felt that was more of a feat then getting the circles. So this is my take on bokeh, and if there is any more BOKEH challenges, I'll be dammed if I don't enter one that clearly has circles in all the right places, because it seems per the threads that it is the "CIRCLES" that are missing in so many shots.
