Getting silly with Hildy. There was a glass door to her lower left but the light was soft because the sun was on the other side of the house. I was sitting below the flight path. No flash, high ISO, so the shot ended up kind of moody and almost scary-looking. She just wanted a Cheez-It! And yes, she will come on command to get one.

Would vastly prefer a shot that is sharper all the way through but the noise would have been unbearable when I inevitably had to lighten it. Ah, well. The lighting on this is fun, even if the picture isn't perfect.

PP - converted from RAW, increased saturation, rotated, cropped, cloned out little bit of chair left after crop, dodged/burnt esp. on eye and face, burnt out any stray color in background, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

This is a very good image, even with the things that you mention about "quality issues". Most of us know the techniques to get the great shot, but it just isn't always easy as time never stands still with animals or people.
Capturing a hundred one time, exceptional moments like this is worth a lot more to me than missing most of life and it's great images while trying to get that one technically perfect shot.

Mary, what a great capture! It's dark and moody making the cracker-nabbing parrot look ominous even if we do know she's a love.

Outstanding. The orange tail feathers being so well lit makes this image very dramatic.

Looks great against the black background. Could have pushed the level on the bird though to make it really standard as the grey wings are a bit dull. Great composition but whats with the brown border? would have been better sampling from the red tail features of the parrot

Great lighting and catch. Composition is great also. Little noisy in the wing area but I am sure that was due to the higher ISO. Nice work.

Photo is a fun shot, but the crop seems odd to me. Needs just a little more light to really come alive, but a nice shot.

Great lighting on the tail, body and head. The wings are too blurred and clipped slightly.

This is creepy in a cool way. I like the crop and give you an 8 for doing so well on the focusing.
