 Up in Vermont for an long weekend in early November. The sky was mostly overcast all weekend so the light was nice and soft. In addition, there were still a good amount of fall colors available for shooting.

I happened upon these leaves curled up near our front door. It was really still and the light was pretty difuse and appealing. I used my 60mm micro and was able to orient it to get the repeating shapes of the leaves behind the in-focus one in the foreground. I really like the warmth of the tones and hues and hope DPC does as well.

Editing: Shot in Raw and converted to JPEG using CS2. Adjusted exposure, curves, sharpness. Save.

Opened in Elements 3.0: Adjusted levels, hue/saturation, Noise Ninja, crop to square. Dodged dark area in upper left, cloned background. Save for web. Added border, USM at small radius, dodge/burn/ blur background, Hue/Saturation, Save.

Predict: 6.2

Post Challenge: I think I should start working as a sports bookie or fortune teller...Predict 6.2 - actual 6.22

Hey Peter,

Congrats on this great photo, the DOF on this is awesome and the veins of the leave make great diagonals. I cannot believe someone gave you a 1! They obviously do not know about photography.

Really like the texture and detail you have brought out in this.

This is really rich. Those browns are so velvety I feel like I can touch them! Could be a study in DOF. Great work again, Peter!

Nice FS score!!!

Great shot full of autumnal brown, the dof you used here is imperious, fantastic sharpness on the leaf and wonderful rapid move to bokeh

very nice simple image that brings beauty out of something that many people would would by without thinking about
