I just got lucky with this photo and caught the bride while she was taking a breath before the wedding. The photo looked a little corpse-ish, so I just cropped it down with Photoshop Elements 4, then used magnetic lasso to layer the flowers and removing the color from the original layer before flattening the image again. One of the bride's favorite photos.

nice pic but it's a shame the b/w looks so flat. The skin is pretty much the same shade of grey which makes her look flat and 2d. some curves would have helped this, or even some dodge/burn to add some depth.

Sorry, I gave a low score on this one. I have a bias toward desat pictures. There are a couple of other others things too. I think it might have looked really well in color, as those flowers really pop.

I really just don't like this.. sorry - I do a lot of weddings and well this just doesn't do it for me.. maybe in full color would be better or if you croped out everything but her face down to her hands. Just a thought. :-)

try this tutorial if you have photoshop. It will help yo get the most out of your images before you upload. For example your image is 99 kb and the max allowance is 150 kb. that means your only using 2/3 the quality you could. It will help with the small details and make them a smooth transition.

The bride's face is too flat looking. Needs better lighting to make her face compete successfully with the flowers. Alternatively, given the intensity of the flowers, might've been better to crop just above the top of her dress, omitting her head & shoulders so that the flowers could tell the story.

Nice work on the desat - very cleanly done. She looks quite calm aand peaceful! I suspect she likes this quite a bit. You may also want to try it still desat like you have it here, but desaturate the bouquet a bit, like maybe 50%, and see if it softens the difference some. And if that doesn't make sense, just ignore me (or PM me and I'll try to explain further!)

i love the beautiful bald colors of the flowers on the B&W but i would have liked to have an "eye contact".

the selective desat looks a bit ghastly on this image...sorry :-(

Interesting tones. I'm not sure if I like the really flat desaturation with the extreme saturation of the bouquet. I'll have to look at this again later.....for now-6
