My daughter's Nativity Play. She is not really in this picture - you can only see the top of her head in front of the main child. This was very much a chance exercise: was suddenly appointed school photographer about 15 minutes before the show, there wasn't even standing room left, crept outside to grab some pre-show shots and loved the light: but as with kiddies in low-light situations, many shots were fuzzy - this littlest angel was standing quite still and beautifully seemed to be making her own light.
I wasn't shooting for this challenge at all, but saw the topics while I was browsing the site (instead of marking end of term papers :-P) and thought I'd submit anyway.
Processing: cropped vigorously, desaturated in PS, contrast and levels. De-noised in Neat Image, sharpen, resize for web and added border.
As for "being alone" - I think there are a few characters in this image that are alone in a crowd - the child minder at left and the shining angel are two "alone in a crowd" figures - and most likely this will bring my score down 'cos there isn't one clearly, obviously, absolutely Aloner... |

I hope this does really well, its what I want to see near the top. Great use of ambient light to separate the main subject. bump to ten |

Not clear which of the many interesting characters here is alone- there is a sense of disconnect about many of them, but it is a smashing picture.
Back to bump you to a 10 - I finally got it. |

Love the sharpness to this photo. I especially like how the light seems to make it's way towards one child. Perhaps a lower perspective could've drawn more attention to her. |

It's not clear who is meant to be "alone" in this crowd. |
