Not sure if this fits the challenge. Actually, I don't understand this week's challenge. Maybe I'll get it when I see more entries. I felt that a coin is a common item but we never see it this close up.

Shot with my 105mm with a 50mm F1.8 reversed in front of it with a macro coupler. Hand held with my 550EX flash for lighting. Convert to Grayscale, Levels, Shapren, then Neat Image. Spot edited a few scratches and dust specks.

No cropping. 11mm (2/5 inch) wide field of view. 2:1 magnification.

Great macro. I think you would have done better shooting an American dime.......with exchange rate and all.
