 Probably won't do to well with the acid edit, oh well. I had this up in my portfolio for one day then hid it. Hope it doesn't hurt it too much. But I like it so I am putting it in. For complaints about the border, the image was cropped how I wanted it and it would have just been empty space, I don't know why I liked it. :P

Post challenge: Thank you everyone for your kind words. I never thought this would do this well in a Free study, especially with the acid edit and big border. I am very thankful. Here is one more shot from there.

This is a nice emotive image and the composition is ok considering that there are two main subjects, the sign and the musician. I like the contrast of the two, one showing a human, the analog mp3 player; and the ad for the gadget.

In the "this and $3.50 will get you a Starbucks" category, this was my choice for the red. Wonderfully seen and I do love the edit.

Joe, this is a great moody shot. I'm so glad you hid it and put it in to the freestudy. Funny I did the same thing with my shot--and netted a personal best from it.
I really think you should have rated higher with this beauty of a shot. Got a 9 from me, and I'm stingy with the 9s and 10s.

I think this shot is awesome and underrated. Nothing against some of the shots that 'beat' it, but this is a great example of IMHO a deeper level of creativity and originality. kudos to you for another capture that is layered with meaning and ripe for interpretation. fav'd

This looks just like an ad - it's very cool. Great comparison with the sax player and then the ipod ad. I'm also curious as to what is on the dark rectangle in the background as well.

Neat perspective. It almost works, except the eye is torn between the musician and the bright IPod ad. They are just too far apart. I am supposing it is looking like he is playing to her? Perhaps if it were composed differently. I do like the concept though.

I love the contrast of the live musician and the IPod ad, and how the contrast in life is mirrored by the color contrast between the two parts of the shot.

The reflection really makes the shot, especially the reflection of the iPod ad. Cool shot. I like the post-processing. 7 from me.

like the simplicity, lighting, and placement of the key elements (oh how I wish that white border was smaller/absent) - one of my ribbon picks

With the exception of the white borders at top and bottom I really like this image. The impressionistic effect of the reflections is quite amazing - the figure in the advert takes on a quite different feeling - almost balletic! The contrast between actuality and the reflection is very clever, and certainly gives rise to thought. Compositionally, the saxophone player playing to the dancing girl in the ipod advert is effective, and the placement of all the components works well for me. A strong photo. back to bump to 10.

I love that his playing the sax mirrors the ad for the iPod! Excellent composition! I like the toning and the use of negative space. Beautiful shot.... one of my top scoring shots.

This was in a portfolio and now in the free study? Don't really agree with that. I like the photo but testing the waters and then putting an image into a free study isn't really right.

Nice, good point of view, but I reckon a black border would have made this punchire, the white, to me at least, weakens it...just an opinion 7

One of my faves!!! I love low angle shots and everything you captured here is pure genius, it's almost as if the musician on the left is palying and the ipod advert is dancing, the reflection of the floor is a very nice end touch. I really wanna see this ribbon, as it's an amazing shot and it's very refreshing I think we get alot of repitition shots here in the site...well done and a very well deserved 10 from me ;p

I love the image, but I would have cut the white border. The image holds its own without the border, which is a little too large and distracting--7
