My first time on this site. I know this image won't place too high but wanted to get it in the mix and see what happens and what people say. I'm just starting out and am interested in constructive criticism and post-processing suggestions. Much appreciated!!

This image was taken around 4pm in Cambria, CA this thanksgiving. What a beautiful countryside.

Nice shot. I think there is probably a bit too much sky and the beach foreground could be a bit lighter. look forward to seeing more of your shots ;-)

I aplologize if I'm too direct. There is nothginwrong with showing a wave. It's only the way you chose to do that. You cut the picture in half with the upper half beeing completely empty. THere is no use of negative space, the sky is plain empty. The lower part of your picture is split into thirds. a real dark featureless beach, a third that could be intersting with all the dynamics of retrieving and coming out waves and an other boring third of empty sea.
If you now look at your picture is a real small portion of your pic that's intersting. You took a picture of it too far away (no details) and placed it into a spot surrounded by featureless areas.
I know it sounds hard, but if you want to show off the wave, you got to get up close. Looks like you had a nice low sun. Get your feet wet and take a pic against the sun, right when the wave is breaking (well a long tele does the same thing), or turn around an shoot with the light, or get down to the almost the level of the water and show us the fight of the water coming in with the one pulled out.

I love this scene... and good job at putting something in the front to anchor the scene. ONe suggestion for future... try getting down at eye level with the waves or rocks/sand - because the person is further away the perspective will show that you are at eye leve with the human too. Right now it looks too much like hte camera is looking down at the scene.

i would've taken this from a different perspective to make the person more of a feature against the wave.colours are a bit dull.

Nice emptiness. I think the wanderer is at peace.
I may have burned her in and made her darker to stick out more, but I also like how she blends in too, hard to say

There's nothing particularly interesting in this shot. Horizon splits the middle. Child at left could have provided some interest but is too small.
