I went to Dupont Circle in Washington DC to take pictures of people playing chess. The reason was the "Street Smarts" challenge.

I started talking to these two guys and asked if it would be cool for me to take some shots of them playing and they said sure why not.

The guy on the left was especially interesting. His name is the "Whistler". Any time a plane flew above he would whistle. Hence the nickname. Unfortunately, he had a seizure about 20 minutes after I took this shot.

I really wanted to submit this photo for the street smarts challenge but submitted another one instead as it appeared more serious.

I am afraid some will find this image busy. Indeed, there's a lot of stuff squeezed into this shot. But I can't help it, I really like how happy this guy looks in the photo.

Love this shot. Maybe a bit soft and slightly out of focus. 9

You really captured this well, so much to think about when viewing this.

I like the contrasting faces, surely one does say hope! From a photogrpahic standopint, that white building in the background is distracting

Really a warm glimpse of a couple of guys who've chosen in one way or another a lifestyle different from that most of us know. Toning works well for this.

I like the man looking into the light, brings a point of focus into the photo
