Blurs the distinction between photography and digital art, but an absolutely beautiful composition. A 10.

I like this it works graphically, but I don't feel its "photographic" elements.

Interesting abstract composition. It's one of those shots that you have to step back to really enjoy. Up close you look at the small parts but when you step back you can see the whole picture. Very graphic. I interesting idea.

I can see the anti-digital art people voting this down, but I like it a lot.

Creative editing. Over the edge in terms of the rules?
02/28/2004 12:08:22 PM
interesting art

very creative. i think it's great.

Beautiful, I'd like to know how this was done. Hope you'd share it with us. 8

Great idea and interesting work. Congratulations.

Nice harmony.

You are creative, indeed!
This has lost photographic integrity in my opinion due to extreme photoshop minipulation.
02/26/2004 02:18:52 PM
Different, but...

I like using that filter for personal stuff every now and then. The flower looks like it was well taken, so why cover it up? It will be interesting to see how this places.

I suspect that you're going to get slaughtered for Photochopping. But not from me. I like this effect.

This shot goes way beyond photographic integrity!

No doubt a lot of effort went into this...a seven for that but your subject is anything but mundane. A wonderful flower just the same:)
02/25/2004 12:19:54 PM
Very clever and very well done. Interesting post camera treatment.
02/25/2004 11:54:29 AM
Very nice idea.
The stamens look too 'rough' in relation to the gentle tones and curves of the background. This might be the point but I would prefer to get rid of deep black shadows in the texture of stamens.

Paint Shop Pro's "weave" effect?
02/25/2004 05:11:55 AM
Effective use of advanced editing rules. I like it.
02/24/2004 09:43:08 PM
interested digital art effect. I expect you'll get hammered by the photography purists. I like the image but have to admit that the impact of the shot comes from your special effects not from presenting a mundane subject in and of itself in an interesting way.
02/24/2004 04:14:02 PM
I'm not too sure that I like the effect on this. origanally I scored this low but after reviewing this again im bumping you up 2 points. I'm still not too sure on the effect.
02/24/2004 08:12:40 AM
very interesting - althought the flower doesn't appear mundane I didn't lower the score any ;)
like the colors and the basket-weave tiles (I'm looking forward to seeing how you did this effect!) One of my picks for a ribbon
02/24/2004 12:16:16 AM
I wonder if you are getting slammed for being too digital..But I like this shot and what you have done with it. It certainly meets the challenge
02/24/2004 12:06:25 AM
Very good job on the weave effect and making a flower more unmundane. However, I find the pollen stems not to be fit. They seem out of place. That just me. I like the color tones and shadeing too.
02/23/2004 11:11:23 PM
This is original. I would love to know how you did this.
02/23/2004 07:10:49 PM
Very nice graphic design work. I bet the underlying photograph looks decent as well but I'm disappointed that I can't judge this as a photograph.
02/23/2004 05:55:19 PM
This is really pretty, how did you get that weaving effect???
02/23/2004 09:59:35 AM
As much as I hate to do it, a 10. You have matched the PS to the subject and challenge extraordinarily. Well done.
02/23/2004 04:14:37 AM
Each to his own - this is a nice piece of art but does it belong in a competition which favours photographic integrity? 4
02/23/2004 03:35:32 AM
I'm going to rate this down because it feels too processed to me... it's not emphasizing the photograpy, instread it hilights design and post-production. I like it, but I don't think it's entirely appropriate. :)
02/23/2004 12:21:31 AM
I think this is a nice shot, but a bit too photoshopped for me. I would've loved to have seen this without the extras.
02/23/2004 12:13:18 AM
Honestly, I think this would still be a good picture without all the PhotoShop madness. As far as digital art goes, its absolutely beautiful. As far as photography goes, well, doesn't quite cut it for me. A 4 for the nice picture used.
