 Same subject as my entry in the "Topless" challenge, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine:



I didn't mean to shoot it again, went out looking for different subjects. But I saw the beautiful cloud moving very fast in the sky and thought a long exposure will produce a neat effect. And I also found a better point of view than my first shot there. So here it is... the clouds are completely natural, very little processing, just a long exposure and fast-moving clouds...

I'm thinking that this version might have ribboned in "Topless"... Ah well, I am very happy with 6.5+ and a top 30 in the Free Study as well. Thanks for the votes, and especially for the nice comments!

i second that motion! this picture stood out as one of the best in the free study to me. the sharpness of the building against the movement of the trees and clouds is really lovely, it gives the cathedral a timeless and ageless feel. good stuff :)

I like how only the middle of the image is free of movement. Really good light and use of white balance to get the building to look correct.

I'll guess those are clouds passing overhead reflecting the city lights. Very nice effect and result!

this is a beautiful image, the trees being so blurred distracts a bit for me, but maybe it was windy? good shot anyways!
