 I was tired and had been editing images for the past two weeks for Christmas cards, gifts and my daughter's highschool portrait.

I got carried away with this image. I forgot the rules of using a airbrush to add more gold and I also added the smoke and christmas tree lights.

I feel like a fool, but I'm ready to go onward. Funny thing is I knew this
image would be scruntinized and I still thought I was working on a painting or something.

I apologize. I never intended to cheat or trick people with this image. I can honestly say I was working on a painting in my mind and my mind was on vacation or something.

I'm really embarressed. Please accept my apology.

In spite of the DQ, it's still a great image. I do appreciate the need for the rules though, there has to be a line drawn to make sure something remains a photograph.

What a wonderful image, perfect for a Christmas card!

..... and don't beat yourself up on this one Darlene, I did exactly the same once. Got carried away using layers and masks and changing modes in a basic challenge....forgot what I was doing. Had been busy editing stock pics, quickly edited my challenge entry, uploaded it ..... was a basic challenge and was justifiably DQ.

Darlene, don't beat yourself up over this - I dare say no one would ever accuse you of cheating intentionally! You've created a gorgeous piece of work here - I would hope you'd consider using it for a Christmas card next year - it's that nice! Oh, and I'd never be able to pull off anything like this at all - very skilled work!

Hey, it happens... no sweat! Please don't feel bad about it. It's still a beautiful image in your portfolio! :) I love the way it's all purply and gold... freakin sweet!! I would upload a print of this if I were you. :) MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I added light on the tree and cabin, plus I added smoke and changed around some shadows on the bottom left. I was playing artist in my mind and not photgrapher. I show and sale paintings for extra money and I swear to everyone...my mind was on overload and I did not submit this to trick or deceive anyone. Actually there is no excuse for not adhering to the rules.

I've beat myself up long enough! I put my camera away for the past 2 weeks. I just took it back out today and it felt so good to take images again!

Please forgive me everyone.

wow it looks like a painting. Try getting your file size up to the limits and I think this would score higher. Your image is 94 kb and the max allowance is 150 kb. Using the most you can will get rid of the most little jagged edges and smooth out the foggy areas nicely. here is a tutorial on getting images ready for challenges if you use photoshop. I think this will do well anyway, good luck. :)

Arghhh this has SO much potential!!!! I think the foreground is spectacular! But there isn't much at the center of the background! Whichi is where the foreground framing leads the eye! I can see the house to the left corner but it's a bit to hidden =(

It's a beautiful scenery and the colours and tones you chose are spot on fairy tale! Very very very nice! Good luck
