Classical interpretation, and I got to play with fire (usually that's reserved for the Boy Scouts in the house). Should be worth a 5 ... although lately I've been guessing very badly!
Envisioned a hand reaching out of the flames with nothing else in the shot. Alone and in pain sort of mood to it, mutely entreating someone to help.
Draped a black cloth over my cabinets and stove, placed a glass where my hand would go so I could focus, then made a little tray of aluminum foil, poured rubbing alcohol in it, placed it in front of the glass, hit the timer on the camera, lit the alcohol and put my hand in place of the glass. Trying for a supplicating hand gesture ... flame was hot so I may have moved!
More or less turned out the way I envisioned. Might have preferred not to have that gap in the flames but fire is kind of hard to control. Could have put another Tray O' Fire behind my hand but thought that the concept came across well enough here without risking my kitchen.
Not really sure what galleries this would fit in.
