 This series of neon sign pictures was for a thread entitled, "Local Assignment." My assignment was the Neon Blade Signs of Durham North Carolina. So these were my three shots for that thread.

This particular shot was difficult due to some seriously distracting background that had to be worked around. Additionally, excessive outside light had to be balanced well and caused some of my noise and a bit more light blur that I ideally wanted.

The star look to the lights was created using the long exposure. No filter, no post processing. Just the wonders of long exposure :) Plain and simple a great effect that takes multiple takes to ensure you get what you want without blowing out the photo from too much light. Lots of manual adjustments to settings.

Nice! If you get a chance to add a Photographer's Comment, I'd love to know if this was shot with a star filter, or if the star effect was added in post-processing. Either way, well done.

{EDIT} PS: Thanks for the explanation of the long exposure = star effect.
