This may be a little late and no one will ever see it but me. However, this is mainly for IGJOE since he asked how it was done.
Its fairly simple really. First, I set the shutter speed on my camera for 8 sec. That fact is not really that important, the important part is that you want a shutter speed that is around that slow or slower depending on what you are going for. Second, and most importantly (I feel anyway) is that you make sure that the camera is completely still for the entire process. The best way is to have a tripod (its not esentialI I didn't use one for this) or something to set the camera on. Finally I have found that the easiest way of keeping the camera still is to use the timer on the camera so that you never even have your hands on the camera at any point in the picture taking process.
If you do all that you should have a decent looking long exposure. The only thing that may hold people back is the camera, since not all cameras support longer exposure times needed to perform such shots. Other than that it should work.
Hopefully this helps someone, thanks for the comments. |

Nice shot! I can't quite figure out where you are from... but can definitely tell that it's a busy city, even after dark. You picked a great location to shoot from - you're not dead on with the building ahead, the curve in the road definitely adds a nice element with the contoured streaks. Nice shot 8 - JB |
