 Today we were busy all day and on the way back from running errands we stopped by a nearby creek so I could get a few quick shots just in case I didn't have time for anything else. I had no time for anything else, and to top it off I figured the 24-70 would be wide enough. It wasn't, and so I took a few tree pics to see how I could bring out the texture in pp.

A light dose of Fractalius
dodge/burn
nik Efex B&W Contrast filter
sepia photo filter
Orton effect (duplicate layer, blur it, set to multiply mode, sharpen original layer)
levels (needed after Orton)
a bit more dodge/burn
smart sharpen

i absolutely love the effect you've got with your lens and your processing .. this is fantastic ... so atmospheric .... and so cold !!! .. it looks like a scene out'v a movie ... i'm not sure of the story line tho .. could be a horror/vampire type movie .. or something completely different !!
ahha .. the orton effect .. i was playing around with different things and just did the blur/multiply .. it wasnt totally working for me too soft .. the sharpening the original layer might get me where i was wanting to go .. thanks for the tip ken ... :)
