 This idea behind this shot is not mine, it is from the comic xkcd.

There are scratches on my face, although it's a little difficult to see at 640px.

Post Processing:

- Raw Conversion using Adobe RAW CS3
- Crop
- Slight s-curve
- Darkened wall using Brightness/Contrast
- Lightened lower left section of floor using Brightness/Contrast
- Boosted main saturation, and lowered saturation on Magenta, Green, Yellow, and Red
- Boosted Contrast
- Cooled down the color of the left side of the picture
- Desaturated Yellow again
- Used Channel Mixer to adjust blues
- Used Color Balance to add some warmth back into the image
- Brightened screen using Brightness/Contrast
- Made screen more blue using Color Balance

Phew... that's a lot of post.

I'll be surprised if this gets top 20%, but It's one of my first actual shots for DPC that was 100% pre-planned.

I love this idea. Very dead-pan funny. I like the serious look on his face and wound. This is very sunday comic / far-sideish for me. An obvious feather or 2 somewhere and a bit more vibrance would have pushed this a bit. 7

Thank you for the XKCD reference! Although, it would be cool to see more evidence of the hawks destruction...such as feathers, ripped packages of chips, and maybe some blood.

A cleaner room could have made the photo more interesting... I find that the photo relies too much on the title.

Inventive and humorous. Shelf, chair, and computer hold the viewer on the expression of the unhappy purchaser. Sharper focus of subject's head draws the eye to the scratches, ensuring the laugh. Low perspective tilts the CD shelf, adding disarray that the viewer attributes to the purchase gone wrong.

As good as any superbowl commercial gag. Professional quality.

This is very subtle, and 90% of the space is irrelevant to the purpose of the image. Having said that, I think it is funny, but a lot of people might miss it.

What a fantastically surreal comment and photo. I love th little touches like the frame knocked out of kilter on the wall. Possibly could have done with being a little brighter but undiubtedly the work of a brilliant (if possibly slightly deranged) mind. - 8
