A black and white photo gets its value from a combinations of grays and interesting contrasts. I don't think b/w works for his fur color.

It was taken at my work (I wish I could get rid of the arm in the background)...just a last minute picture before "dad" came to get him...he is a very handsome dog though,only about 11 months old!

strong composition here - and a good looking subject! Seems like this would have been a fun session, and you've done a nice workup here.
