 My son and I had a great time creating this shot. We initially tried using rubbing alcohol on the fishing lures to ignite them but it would burn off too quickly. We ended dipping them in lighter fluid which worked almost too well - the lure would quickly be engulfed in flames. Catching the flames an attractive form was also a challenge. Of the several hundred images I shot, I have only a handful that I liked. In this image, while I did do level and curve adjustment and spot editted the background, there was no manipulation of the flame shapes - they were straight out of the camera.

Such beautiful colors. The contrasting background really helps to bring out the wonderful colors of the lure and the flame. The flames were capture with a very curvy and beautiful shape. "10"

For poaching fish? Interesting idea, and I like the fish-shaped flame. Might have been even better with a (flame colored) red lure and a darker background for contrast.

I think the idea was creative. The execution is a little weak. The lure is the color of the background and is lost. The worm, it's okay but really doesn't stand out or have much interest. The flames are very nice..they are a good color and appear to be moving, causing interest. Not a bad entry.

An interesting idea. I like the background and the flames. Not sure about the choice of subject though. Just out of curiosity, what made you decide on a burning lure?
