This was literally taken in my backyard. I live in a house in the suburbs and the most amazing thing is that since I've been here I keep seeing deer in the yards.

I think it fits the challenge well enough...
It doesn't say "city" but the description does include towns. And it doesn't really look like a zoo, does it? Since there are deck chairs and the like in the background...

Okay, I'll admit it! It was a snapshot that I just so happened to take during the challenge. I wouldn't have submitted unless I thought it fit, but I will say I was certainly not thinking along these lines when I saw the description and would have loved to take a different type of shot altogether had I had the time and, most importantly, the energy.

I will stop rambling now. ;-)

Compression just killed all the detail in the grass and the texture of the deer and it kind of looks now like I applied some color pencil filter to it or something. Oh well.

post-challenge reply:
Sorry, I didn't mean to be insensitive with the title. I wasn't trying to be funny but I see it seemed like I was.
Took 83 captures and this one unfortunately was the best for the challenge... Well, maybe next time :-D

the truth is that everything is real enough that we shouldn't laugh at anything!

Perhaps when you are as old and wise as some photographers you'll stop laughing and perhaps smiling all together!

o brother!

The nice thing about deer becoming so acclimated to man is that we can get really close and take great photos now!

etc. So now I'm looking forward to seeing more of these from you too! :-)

Well I thought I pretty interesting take on the challenge. I wasn't offended by the title, though I did think it was kinda funny. Made me smile, anyway! Nice that you have such lovely visitors.

hehe great title. I do find it amazing that the deer are just hanging out in the neighborhood like this. Here, they keep getting moved out of their area because the trees are all being torn down to make way for project homes that no one really will care for. Lovely isn't it?

Funny catch - I like it!

Pausing for a moment or two for these beautiful animals to move might have yielded a nice shot of two deer in an urban/surburban setting. Although they overlap in this image, the title is an awkward stretch and unfortunately not funny. Perhaps I should not be so literal, but the truth is that congenital deformities are real enough to not be a laughing matter.

Technically, several overexposed areas and busy background. Subject is not appealing either.

Hmmmm. Dont really know what to say about this shot. Interesting, but the main subjects face is way overexposed
