Not really sure what people will expect for this challenge, but IMO these geese certainly stand out beautifully against the sky. A straight increase in contrast gave me nice silhouettes, but I liked the colored version of the geese much better. This shot is definitely more reliant on processing for its impact than a lot of mine, but the sky was lovely and the detail was there on the geese to bring out with dodging, so I'm gonna' go with it. Clouds were quite low on the horizon and it was late afternoon; I was on the ground with the long zoom and the teleconverter.
PP - converted from RAW 2x (dark and normal), dodged geese on normal layer and colored more brown, then extracted goosey highlights and copied to dark layer, merged, adjusted white balance, cropped, levels, increased contrast, cloned a bit of blue over big cloud on left to minimize it more, dodged cloud above geese slightly, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction, lightened gamma a bit. |
