 This would work better if I was female...

Anyways, it's an experiment. I think it worked.

Lit with a single light shooting through an umbrella to camera right (the image was flipped).

Converted from RAW, messed around with blue channel, cropped, burned, dodged, high pass, USM, resize, sfw etc.

I love the lighting and the detail in the fabric. The color works well also. I like that it is a male instead of a female...I see veiled females all over, you took a common concept and made it unique again. Nice job

kinda dpcish with the sharpness and the offcenter composition with darkness to one side, BUT... the eyes are closed, the face seems almost in decomposition, the face is looking away from the darkness, which somehow justifies its inclusion. I'm intrigued.

My first impression when your image popped up was that it reminded me of a painting from the "old masters." (DaVinci, Michaelangelo, etc.) I really like the texture of the veil (and I'm usually not a fan of veil shots). Excellent lighting and composition as well. Definitely in my top three for this free study challenge. Good luck. 10

Wow, awesome photo...it really shows how women are oppressed in the world and carry the emotional burden around with them. Excellent lighting and detail! I love this one!!
