This is "Spooky Bazookey," the Acme Melon Musket. I got it from the Acme Melon Musket co, the same one that "Wile Coyote" of "Road Runner" fame buys kits from.
We got a late start because it was raining a little until about 2:30 PM, so I was busy launching watermelons until after the BBQ was served. I didn't get to take any photos of it in action, as my melon musket crew is cruising the Bahamas on their sail boat, so I was working it with only my step son and myself. We launched about 35 melons into the trees across the field, about 1/3 mile within about 2 hours. This is at the end of the day when we were breaking down to transport it. It uses compressed air. It is about 45 ft long when deployed like this, and the barrel swings back over the trailer hitch for towing. There is video at BBQ TV if you Google "Bazookey" it is there. There is also an old website if you Google "Melon Musket."

Probably a bit tough to get a shot of the watermelon launching but it'd be fun to see.

So THAT's where you get your name, LOL! I'm curious, how much damage happens to the trees in the other field? I guess it could be minimal by the time those things land, huh?

Mud hogging and now watermelon chucking my type of recreation. DonĂ¢€™t shoot any frozen watermelons tonight.

Sounds like a fun day! Have you ever looked into Trebuchets? They are large contraptions that launch anything you want depending on the size of your counter weight. Sounds like your type of toy!!
