The Zambezi, looking from dry and dusty Botswana to lush and verdant Zambia.

December 2 – Francistown to Livingston

We spent the night with MJ, arriving in Francistown after dark.

We pulled up to the Thapama Hotel in Francistown, and were amazed at the size and swankiness of the place. Much nicer than the Grand Palm. Francistown seems to be the heart of Botswana – much more like a capital city than Gabs. I suppose Gabs is the seat of Government, and that’s it really. F.town much livelier. Also, much more western – with the shops and the malls it could be England, Canada, anywhere.

We keep going over rivers of sand, - completely dry riverbeds. It still isn’t raining properly. El Niño is doing his business.

MJ lived in the Thapama for 2 months, which he seemed to enjoy. It’s a very nice hotel. He finally got a house 3 weeks ago. He seems happy. The drive yesterday was good, but I was exhausted. MJ was up for a long session last night, but I was the first to crash at 10.

It’s hot hot here. Circling raptor birds above the road. Hmm. Tons of them. Eagles and kites. Very Strange.

The sky is so blue, a giant blue bowl over us. You can see where the music of the spheres came from. The land is very flat here and you see houses plonked down in the middle of nowhere. The banks of the rivers are lush green grass, beautiful, and the rivers themselves are red sand. Like roads, but not.

Such nice reflections, not hit-you-over-the-head type, but quiet and unassuming.

Your big sky and odd ground cover just got far more lush. The single most powerful substance on our planet and we all to often take it for granted, that water stuff. I like how your overlays add to the telling of the story.

Love the old time processing effect.....looks like an old gem that came out of a box in the attic that evokes memories of the lost continent. Wonderful!

Awesome, I'm going to have to make time to go through and read all these. Sounds like such a wonderful adventure!
