My country is one where winter lasts for 6-7 months - so expect a LOT of snow images.

This is a major activity here in winter: fishing through holes drilled in the ice. These two men were drilling and installing the lines to capture the fish.

Looks like fun. We lways know when its ice fishing season because most people put up little ice fishing huts on the water.

THAT is the one thing I miss about winter, ice fishing! Great composition on this. Thought about setting tip-ups on inner tubes ;)

A great study of a particularly demanding pursuit.

Ice fishing! That's about the last thing I would want to do - right after ice climbing, and anything else to do with ice.

That said, it's a great photo! Love the little details - very interesting.

Nice capture composition is very pleasing with those red "tags". Seems a bit tiring though to make a drill just to get to the fish.

I think I'll wait until the summer comes before I do any fishing... lol! It's fun to see how other people live though,

Where's the buckets? Guys around here that go ice fishing sit on buckets in case they catch anything. That's a nice auger, my dad taught me how to use one, but it wasn't that fancy!

Very nice image. We don't get much snow in belgium, just lots of rain. Very interesting capture of the ice fishing.

Cool. They fish on the lake in my hometown (I don't live there anymore) but I never got close enough to see it because I hate the cold! LOL

Brrr...we ice fish here too, but I cannot bring myself to walk out on those frozen lakes. You take fabulous images of the snow. I agree it's the hardest thing in the world to photograph, but you capture all the colors so well!! Nice image.

You seem to do very good at getting snow shots with the Sony. The 70-300 is doing an excellent job of dealing with the high contrast between the snow and the subjects on it. Do you use a polarizer?
I lived in Mi for a few months of one winter, but never tried this. I would likely get frost bitten toes and fingers. To me, it looks like more of a social thing with maybe a bit of antifreeze involved. : )
