Well I have a feeling that this shot is going to be eclipsed by some of the work that is likely to be forthcoming in this challenge.

For me however the victory has been in even getting a shot in. To be honest a year ago I had no idea how to PP, knew very little about things like the rule of thirds, borders etc. Now while I cant say I have conquored photography I do know a lot more about what works and try to apply it in my shots.

I guess I can see the technical deficiencies in the shot...the subject should be bigger, more dramatic and the compostion is not evenly balanced...Yet I still enter it happily because I have produced a genuine time lapse image. Oh and one thing that isnt an error on my part...in the centre shot it may look as if I have cropped my daughter's hand off...I havent..it is just the way she had it when she was jumping

I predict a 4. something and as I said before given the standard I expect from others possibly even the brown, but it is still a step forward in terms of my capabilities and more importantly I love the shot

Post Challenge

Woohoo this did so much better than I expected...Just to let a couple of commenters know....1. Daisy (my daughter and the jumper) did successfully make the leap and 2. I am not that cruel that I hoped she wouldnt just so I could get a better shot.....

Jon
Awesome shot - I love the use of time lapse, the choice of border, the warm rich tones, and the placement of the stream. And I am glad she made the leap...It looks like it was close!

Jon!!! Way to go!! This is just plain awesome! It shows the time lapse so well, and the photograph itself is so rich and beautiful. And what a tough challenge to have mastered such a competitive amazing photo. You are SO the bomb! I think I've told you that before :) Well. . .you still are! And so is this photo!

Wow. fantastic finish on a superb photo. I am a little jealous, I have no idea how to do time lapse. I am hoping for a tutorial soon.

Cool shot Jon. You ran neck and neck with Michelle. She just eeked past you.

Great action captured, love the wisps of hair moving throughout. Superb landing.

Congratulations on a new front page profile image, too.

I'm thinking this is Jon. What a cute idea! Good thing she has such long legs to make the jump lol. I also like how you stretched the title. Good luck!

frisca: grass and water is natural.

muckpond: kids jumping over stuff is natural!

scalvert: alright, you can have this one. But I'm DQing the rest!

I really like the widescreen view of this. Nice example for this challenge.

The huge top and bottom borders take a lot away from this. I would have also dressed the "actress" in some brightly colored clothes to contrast the dreary grass and trees.

great shot! i can follow it through and it's not too 'cluttered'. the colour is nice and looks very autumn-ish.

Over saturated but pleasant - in my opinion that could do with being more humble and is usually wrong.

Two things initially come to mind, orange colour cast and non-traditional border - but I'm pleased to say I think both work here. Perhaps the orange is a little overdone but it completements the field and contrasts well with the blue water. The border gives it a video game feel and gives the image a "development animation" feel - hope that makes sense. The composition seems a bit weighted on the right hand side - two figures + stream verses just the one figure on the left.

I like the long frame, colors work really well too. I wonder if you were hoping maybe she didn't make so that the shot would have alittle more oomph :P
