The historic recreation of Washington Crossing the Delaware occurs yearly, weather permitting.
Artist, Emanuel Leutze, portrayed that crossing in his famous painting. (While this is not a stellar photo, it reminded me of another famous artist's work: Renoir’s “The Umbrellas” piece.)

It's a funny old light at this time of year on the East Coast, isn't it. It can kill an out of camera photo or make a great dreary realistic one. I imagine Washington didn't always get the weather he wished for either ;-)

This is actually a VERY cool photo! I really like the contrast of the umbrellas (modern ones at that) with the boat and the period costumes worn.
