This is Old Dawt Mill in Dawt Mo. I have been visiting this old mill my entire life. when i was a child my father loved to come here to buy fresh ground cornmeal and flower. Then when my children were small we would come and camp here and float the river that is behind it. When my son was a teen he and his friends would sleep on the gravel bar behind and if it would rain i would awake to find them all asleep on the porch of the mill. I thought this was special as i remember my grandfather tell me about bringing corn here in a wagon to have it ground. i hate to see the old mill in such bad repair for i feel it has been apart of my family for three generations.

I really love the sepia toning on this, really accentuates the feeling of day's gone by.

Your town looks like it's taken right out of a western movie! Love the sepia look.

Great photo and equally great story, any places I went like that as a kid are mostly residential communities now :(

Love the story that goes with this one. I can truly understand your feelings about it being in bad repair.

The sepia tone is an excellent choice here. I like the low-contrast look, too. It really helps give this an 'aged' look.

I like the sepia toning on this image. really gives it an old vintage feel. It is nice that the building is still standing after all these years with the memories your family has.

This is a great shot... and I love the processing. It reminds me of a shot that I took a couple of years ago.

Wow, back in the day. You did this fine building justice with this beautifully edited image. I think the lighting looks perfect for this type of image. I bet the flour and cornmeal tasted so good back then before GM(gentically modified) foods came along. Thanks for sharing the story! :)

What a fine story. The light isn't all that bad with the way you have toned the shot to make it look old. It's great that you still have it to go see. In time, like us, it will be gone. It's good to be able to at least keep our images of the things like this that mean a lot to us. You should try to shoot a few with your family in front of it.

Great shot I love old buildings I used to make frames out of old wood and frame these kind of photos in them.
