I guess I am a stickler but I think of the ocean/waves as noisy, peaceful mostly but not silent

this says it all....shhhhhhhh of the waves and sand. The image seems a little blurry probably due to making it larger for challenge

I've never been to a beach and experienced silence, particularly not when there are waves breaking. This is an effective evokation of emptiness but not IMHO, silence..

I really like this photo, it seems very desolute, even in the middle of Jersey or wherever. It feels like one of Tony Soprano's dream sequences.
