Challenge: Silence IV (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon PowerShot A40
Location: Sefton Park
Date: Feb 29, 2004
Aperture: 4.8
ISO: 50
Shutter: 1/160s
Galleries: Animals, Water
Date Uploaded: Mar 2, 2004

Taken at the weekend at Sefton Park in Liverpool. I thought that the graceful way that the swans glided across the lake would be a suitable entry for a silence challenge.

Image was cropped slightly, resized and some levels adjustment.

I wish swans were kind enough to let us pet them, this one looks so soft. Beautiful lighting. The water looks welcoming and calming.

The water reflections are lovely. The slight imperfection in the water underneath the swan's beak is the only thing that made me mark you down slightly.

And what about the sound of the water beeing touched by the goose?

cliche but very good. COuld be a wee bit crisper and THe things in front of the swan bother me (those 3 yellow dots)

Love the detail on the water, the 'fluid' motion is almost tangible here. Nice representation.

I feel the water is a little to reflective and the outline of the swan isn't very clear

A different crop would have helped this shot. If you had shown the entire reflection in the water and the tail feathers completely I would like it more. Even so, a nice shot.

Good photo but would be better if water was more placid and swan's face was not in the dark
