Thanks for the the comments folks.
I'm really just getting the hang of the camera now. I bought a spyder monitor calibrator over the weekend, and after calibration, I realise how muted the colours are.
I had tried a few different crops and decided to leave the old slate roof in shot, only because the chimney flue is actually tied on with parcel twine, the compression needed to make it entry sized removed that detail.
I'm going to play with it more since the monitor calibration, the red and blue should be alot stronger.
As an aside, I took this shot on a Saturday for the competition. The building has been derelict for at least 10 years. I passed by it on the way home from work on the following Monday only to see a skip (dumpster) outside it and workmen leaving. |

Great details and colors. Needs a little tweak with the curves and contrast and it will be outstanding. Maybe crop a little off the top |

problably could have used some saturation or a conversion to B&W |

I love this building; it has a lot of character and the colors are neat. I think this image is a tad flat, I would try to increase contrast and play with the levels (my opinion!) |

mmm.. i like the colors.. the texture.. but if you crop it, cutting the roof or another perspective it would be more interesting. |
