 Luke 23:34 - Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."

With all of the monthly Free Studies I have little too choose from fro best of. This is actually an outtake from a previous FS. I probably should have entered this as the entry I did use barely got out of the 4s. Very glad I get to use this image here.

I realize many people will not care for the bars. Couldnt get rid of them with the ruleset. But they it work into the concept of the title. In this verse of Luke, Jesus is asking God, praying to God to forgive those who are treating him like a prisoner and about to send him to his death. This image of the lion appears to be praying behind his bars of imprisonment. Could be a stretch. Doesn't concern me.

And this isnt a social commentary on zoos. Maybe on bad zoos but the zoo we have here in Columbus is not one of them. Our zoo is top notch and I will renew our membership again when it comes up.

Would love to see a mid 6 on this. The religious title though will probably hurt me. Lets see how many comments against the title and number of 1 votes I get.

I'll have to agree totally with what was said before me. The side profile POV is very nice. To me your description and title are spot on! Also the darkened bars are subtle enought that they do not distract the typical viewers eye. Thanks for stepping out. -BB

After reading your notes I now feel cheated. I want to give your "statement" photo a 1 for not being an actual statement. You're turning into a ribbon hog with no priniciples! ;)

I don't totally understand the connection to the bible verse but I do love how the lion looks as tho he is speaking to someone from above. I love the lighting on the face and the color of the fur is fabulous!

Wonderful natural colours and capture. Only comment would be a tiny bit of bleaching on his chin. Still a great result. Good Luck. 7.

Lion of Judah. Very good...T2? Most lion shots are head on...which works. Yours however, presents a fresh view and is made even more meaningful by the reference.

I like the mood of the image. Good expression on the lion's face and I think it was a good choice to have the fence partly visible.

They divided his garments by casting lots? I'm certainly no biblical scholar, but I don't understand the reference (even if you include: Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.") Decent lion pic, though.

I had to go look up that verse. Not sure what it has to do with the photo, though, unless you think the lion's pose suggests he is looking towards heaven speaking to god. A very nice photo.

I think this has to be one of the best challenges I've voted in, what a great array of awesome photo's, and this is one of them. Great detail and with the black background....very nice.
