Aperture: f/4.4
ISO: 200

Straight from the camera, cropped to square, saved for web.

I should have taken a picture of myself setting up this scene...just a big kid hard at play!

I wanted to take a shot with the magnifying glass doing its work, but the sun didn't want to come out, so I had to melt the army men with a blow torch. Then I went back in the (warm) house to set it up. It was quite a sight to behold: clamp lights hanging on microphone stands, paper towels diffusing the light, piles of toy soldiers everywhere. lol

I tried a hundred-or-so times before I gave up and settled on this one. I'm not too happy with it, but it was fun to do anyway.

Fun idea, but composition seems a little off to me. Maybe if one of the burnt guys was more the focus of the shot?

Nothing captures childhood quite like burning things with a magnifying glass. Nice one.

The textures in your picture are very strong and the detail is amazing. I like the zig zag line you created for the eye to follow.

I remember sneaking my aunt's magnifying glass outside and was going to see if that actually worked on some ants. She caught me before I burnt any up though. LOL Nice sharp detail.

good idea..for some reason I think the picture would look better if the magnify glass was just a little down more the army men are not a very strong subject at least from the angle they are shot at but that is just my opinion

Ah yes... the dreaded magnifying glass. Great memory. I might like a lower, closer angle or even better... showing the actual burning in process with the rays of the magnifier and some smoke and burning plastic.
