Monument Valley at Sunrise. It was awfully early to get this shot...but it was worth it. I grew up in the southwest, but moved out of the area before I got into photography. I finally got the chance in 2007 to trek around the southwest to take pictures of the amazing world I grew up in!

Beautiful image! I am proud to be right next to yours image. I love the lighting and the partial silhouette of the landscape.

This is why I love the desert so much - such amazing landscapes to work with.

Wow. As someone who hasn't been to this part of the world, you've done a great job of conveying to me what it looks like. The sky is stunning, from rich blues to warm and light oranges, with beautifully lit clouds. The sun and its flare help convey the emotion that you surely felt while you were there. The shadows play beautifully off the little plants, and the warm tones in the rocks in the foreground add to the scene perfectly.

Should anyone complain about the blown highlights in the sun, the dark shadows in the rock structure, or the lens flare, they are sadly missing this photograph for what it really is.

Excellent job!

Overall too dark for me.

A great perspective on this one, it looks like you're at the same level as the clouds. Great photo.

Why is the upper part of the sky so dark? I like the mood you were trying to get but that top part kinda looks weird.
