And light sneaks in from the upper right, seeking its place, to illuminate, to show, to see and be seen. Excellent. |

Ok, this is just shockingly good...I love how mysterious it is and the lighting is just so dramatic. So many stories to tell by this old building. I can "listen" to it for hours. |

Abandonment, sadly makes for good photo's. I like the dimly lit details...the light streaming in. Nice photo. |

I like the angle and perspective you've taken the pic at. Shows so much of the place in just one shot.. and beam of light is super nice! |

Wow - so much wonderful stuff going on. Firstly I love the two floors of dwelling - yeah baby!
I love the ceiling fan/light fixture through the door - very cool and is that the sign for Anarchy?
WONDERFUL! |

Too bad you didn't make the deadline. Think it's a little dark, but I like the light shining from the top right and for me the bottom right is just amazing. The left side is also very nice, but looks like a different story. |

I like that small spots of high contrast due to the outdoors light and that shaft is simply fantastic. I bet an HDR version of this would look great also. |

Superb lighting- that one misty shaft streaming through the room is what makes the shot for me. |

I love that there are so many different areas of light. It's like a tease. The streaming diagonal light is cool. Then you have the rooms in the background , and the light from downstairs. It forces you to look all over to see what else is hidden here. I like it! |

The lighting & the grain in this image are so wonderful it took me a minute to stop admiring those & enjoy the beautiful composition. I love this building, and you seem to have chosen the perfect time & position to photograph it. |

it all seems disconnected but is held together by that shaft of light. The duotone treatment is great, can't wait to see what else you do. |

I look at the image. I look at the words. Dresden jumps out at me. I must be old. Visual theatre is what I learn from your adept photograph. Reveal a little, hint a bit, tempt a little, flirt a bit.... These are the techniques I rather enjoy. |

this looks a bit creepy. You definitely have the lighting right on. The lighting hitting that graffiti panted on that door is a bit freakish.

Love this lighting! This place looks almost like everyone just walked away years ago and never came back. |

Oooooh, I am SO glad you jumped in ! Your black and white / sepia work is stunning. I am looking forward to seeing more of your work throughout 2008. As for this one. ..it is very cool. I love the darkness. . yet, you can still see detail and even texture in the walls and floors. And such an interesting composition seeing the two levels.

One good thing about a side challenge is there are no rules and (if you wanted to) you could really go to town on this image. Aready a great shot I do like all the rooms with light and although the floor is very dark it looks as if some (ok lots) of dodging and burning would create a great textured floor. The stream of daylight shinning along the wall to someones 'tag'? would make a picture on its own.
Had a quick look in your port and you have some great B&W images, isn't 2008 going to be fun :) |

I like this one the way it is. I think the darkness heightens the effect of the interior of an old abandoned building. |

Good lighting here.. Don't know if it would be possible but I'd like to see more of the stairs so there would be a connection with the upper left & lower right light sources. |

Okay - Now I am really happy!....Welcome Christoph to the wonderful world of B/W Image of the Week. What a great start to the side challenge for you. The darkness and grain really contribute a great sense of impending loss or abandonment. The placement of the lighted staircase in the lower right really anchors the image and provides a great balance to the windows at the top. |
