Challenge: Off-Screen Expectation (Basic Editing I)

I took this picture of my cat as I watched her staring out the window. A dog was barking near by, and she was a bit freaked out. I have a +2 close up filter on my lens to increase the blurring of the background.

Very good - the cat's nature is here which is very difficult to capture.

I would like to thank everyone for their comments! I know cat pictures are not too popular for high marks, but any subject can convey a message, and I wanted to show that with my "off screen expectation" photo. I love pet photography, and plan to get better and better at it!!!

Technically excellent and also conveys off screen expecation very well.

nice intense expression on the cats face. I dont like the very very shallow DOF here. Even the left eye and mouth is beginning to fall out of focus. Otherwise lovely capture.

This seems to be a snapshot of a cat, with little thought to the background at all. It is very destracting.

I had a cat shot as well, Nice expression. Background is distracting. I'd like to see more of the negitive space to the right of the cat (more space between it and what it's looking at) and less of the cat on the left. Cute cat!

I don't get the feeling of an off screen expectation from this...maybe if the cat was sitting up of likcing its lips it may have worked better for me

Even the cat shots are great in this challenge. Great capture and good composition. The look of concentration and the color around the eyes and nose are excellent. 8

The cat is certainly anticipating something to happen. Looks like it's on a hunt. Good capture.

Definitely meets the challenge. I might have cropped a bit more of the body out and more empty space in front of the cat in.
