This was a once-lovely house, down on it's luck. I hear from someone who lives in that neighborhood that this house was always on the market, it couldn't keep its people. On Jan. 17, the shed in the back yard burned to the ground. On Jan. 24, a damp & overcast day with no wind, the house burned to the ground. It took all day. The fire-fighters managed the fire, protecting nearby uninvolved structures. There was nobody inside to rescue. This is one of the few shots I got w/no people in it. I stood across the street, shooting between passing cars. I could feel the heat & hear the flames. I know this is an "Architecture" challenge, & I expect the winning shots to all be soaring examples of professional genius. That's OK by me. This was just an ordinary nice house. But as I looked at it I remembered all the times I've said it would be easier to burn the house down than to clean it up, but I didn't really mean it. So, I used that thought for the title. To post-process, I used auto-adjust of Levels, Contrast, & Color. I used An Adjustment Layer for Curves & Brightness/Contrast. I used USM. And, I cropped it. |

How did you ever get this shot?! Are you a photojournalist? Spookily beautiful. |

I think that his picture is out off topic in this challenge. |

A nice shot for photojournalism but not so much for architecture, sorry. |
