Challenge: Free Study 2008-01 (Advanced Editing VI ("Time Lapse"))
Camera: Canon EOS-400D Rebel XTi
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: Central Milton Keynes
Date: Jan 3, 2008
Aperture: f3.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1.00 sec
Galleries: Architecture
Date Uploaded: Jan 31, 2008

I took this shot quite early in the month and then did not really think anymore about it. Then when I downloaded optikverve I played around with the settings on it using this shot. I created one very dramatic black and white shot but when I saved it I only saved it at a file size of 50 odd kb

Anyway a few days later I tried to recreate the look of the image to save it at 200kb and just could nor recreate it. Very very frustrating. AByhoo in the end I thought that rather than being irked by the fact that it did not look quite as it had previously I would go for a different style and this is the outcome

By the way I know it is not straight...that was deliberate and even accentuated in PP as I really liked the way it looked like that

This was shot at night on a shutter speed of 1 sec

I like this. The blue duotone works well and so does the tilt. Cool shot Jon. Definitely should have been higher.

I wonder why this is a sub-5 shot? It's clear, the subject is in focus, the blue colortone is gorgeous, the angle adds interest. I didn't get to it during voting so i'm not sure what I would have given it - at least a 6 for sure. I don't really get moved by architecture shots, but I'd say that you have a very good one here. Shame it was not appreciated more.

Absolutely love the duotone you chose here. (It is a duotone, right?) Great composition and angle. A very nice sharp night image without noise. Nicely done.

Jon - I love the contrast between the lighted parts of the dome and the dark tree. The tones are really excellent. Is that Satin Steel? Clearly unappreciated and underrated - this is SO not a 4.9.
