Such wonderful depth in those eyes, such patience, and photographic issues aside, a delightful portrait. |

cute girl, the upper right corner draws a bit too much attention, but no so much as to make for a bad shot |

Very pretty potrait.. Logically the lighting shouldn't have worked with it being everywhere except on the face but it does.. Nice job! |

Very nice use of the available light, detailing the hair, and bits of the jacket, and of course the catchlight in the right eye. Letting the light do the painting. |

Very nice portrait. I like the lighting on her hair but find her face a little dark on the lower side. Beautiful daughter btw. |

I enjoy the tones and the gaze, she seems at peace while her favorite dad shoots her portrait. :) |

What a sweet photo! My boys will hardly pose for me anymore so enjoy this. I would like to have seen some extra lighting on her face too in order to place more emphasis on those big eyes! A lovely family keepsake. |

A child's world, the wordless world of implication. It is a very soft technique but ultimately powerful, so you remind me with this photo. Having two daughters, 6 and 13, I concur. |

i am glad you added the second half of that first sentence - i was beginning to wonder about you...
nice use of shallow DOF - the focus on the eyes is very solid and you stayed in control so to make it come across as natural and real |

Very nicely done, like the warmth. So will we later get a photo of your favorite wife? |

You've captured a tender moment here and one you'll surely appreciate in the future. It would be nice to have just a tad bit more light on her face, but this gives a nice effect also. |

Very nice black and white portrait. I like the warm tones, and the lack of sharp highlights. Great job dad! |

Wonderful capture! I'm a nut for foreground out of focus areas so I really like it in your shot. I get a lot of comments that they are distracting, but it suites my taste well.
I love the natural lighting, but I would like to see a little more light on her face. You mentioned a little dodge and burn, I would go a little more with the dodging on her face and eyes. I would also burn the other parts so that you have a nice tonal seperation from her face and other parts of the composition.

Lovely capture.. I would go for a little bit more sharpening around the eyes. Beautiful otherwise. |

She's a beautiful young lady - you've got a great model on your hands! I like the way the light plays on her hair and her hoodie. |

You can tell she's the princess. That look of total love and devotion says it all: "I'm the favorite and I know it" :) She is beautiful. And the moodiness of the black and white processing enhances the feel wonderfully.
Have a safe trip. I hope it is for pleasure and you have time to bring back some great black and whites to show us :)

Am glad you cleared the title up Bud, all sorts of things went through my mind when I saw the thumb in the main thread.
Lovely capture of innocence (yeah right, mischief more like). For me the oof foreground (arm of chair?) is a little too much, I know your showing off with the 1.4 but am sure the 400D can handle 1600ISO and maybe stop down a little?
