This gives me the sense of a performer of some kind, about to take the stage or enter the arena. Also begs the question of why just the one? I quite like the shot.

Sharp focus on Goosey, billtip to webtoe and the ground whereon he stands against the blurred bg, and the wonderful definition within his whites delightfully emphasize his quirky random moment in the universe. (Not to compete with Pineapple or Posthumerus). If I had anything definitive to say about the background I'd be a better photographer than I already am, but looking at your alternate Goosey where the bg is more in focus I am tempted to suspect you might think it provided some of the same context it did there. But I applaud the negative space.

I love this. You've captured a moment. The birdie seems deep in thought, sort of distractedly walking along while its mind is elsewhere. And oddly, I can very much identify with the mood. So the level of personification present in the picture very much impresses me - it's not often you see a picture that seems to express an animal's emotional state :)

You've shot the beastie from the back: how dare you! There aren't pretty colors throughout: how dare you! The horizon is *gasp* tilted! How dare you! I love this, not because there are technical "faults," not even "in spite of" the "faults", but simply because I find it intriguing, and all the elements together -- darkness, light, processing, composition -- heighten that intrigue for me. I'm glad you shot and processed as you did.

This is fun, it made me smile as soon as I opened it. I'm in two minds about the dark area of the background, on the one hand it would probably be more DPC friendly without it but for me the image would lose some of it's impact if you cropped it out. It looks like the duck (goose?) has someplace to go, he looks like he's checking for traffic before heading for that dark area.

The pose of the bird really gives it character, and the negative space is great. I'm a little perturbed by the sloped dark background, which I think draws the attention away from the bird a little, but nevertheless a great quirky shot which I like very much.

Good pose you captured there, with the head in profile and one foot lifted - really gives the viewer the sense of action, even though it can't ever be anything but a static shot. I put a piece of paper at the top to get a sense of what it would look like cropped, as another commenter suggested you might do - it is possible with the crop that the goose may have been more visually isolated, without the contrasting background drawing the eye away.

Very good detail and a fun image. I like how you caught him (her?) with one foot up.

I love the quirky nature of this subject. I think this crispness is wonderful. I think it would have done well in the 'bird' image and clearly it got lost amongst the landscapes in this challenge.

I like the composition, just wish that the dark part of the background were cropped out.
