Was taking photos at the stockcar track yesterday. Third race of the day, first lap there was an horrific accident. Roll-over, fuel tank burst and the car went up in flames. The driver is in critical care.

It happened so quickly! The rescue team were on the scene trying to douse the flames to get to the driver, but it seemed to take forever.

All my hopes and prayers are with the driver in this very tough battle he is fighting.

The photos I took are shocking, but they showed that it was just a horrible racing accident, no-one appears to be at fault.

Edit to add. Thankyou for your support. There are no parts of the accident in the image, I was just playing in photoshop with textures as I thought about what I'd seen, sending prayers and trying to feel hopeful for a lovely man, trying to sooth my mind.

It's always awful to hear news like that, and sadly, to see it makes it even more personal and lasting. Hope the driver survives. Your submittal reflects your mood beautifully.

Car racing is my husband's passionate hobby, so I got a bit of a lump in my throat when I read your notes. He had an accident on the track last spring when a car ahead of him leaked oil, resulting in a spin-out and crash. Luckily it was only his car that was badly damaged, and he walked away unscathed. I'm not clear if your image is comprised in part of some shots from the accident that you witnessed, but there's certainly a fiery intensity portrayed, along with a quieter, more serene underlying image. Beautiful.

Considering all the chaos you went through with the racing accident, this is a lovely peaceful piece. I like the muted oranges and yellows.
