I've been wanting to take the Bald Rock hike for some time having heard how spectacular the view is of Lake Oroville and of the Norther Sacramento Valley. So, yesterday I thought I'd head up and get a shot before the oncoming storm reached us. It's about an hour there and a short hike in. About the time I reached the turn off the snow started coming down hard and it was all uphill on gravel from there, and being the chicken that I am about driving in snow, I decided I'd better wait and do it another time. I stopped on the way back and took this shot.
pp: Opened twice in Raw to get the correct exposures on sky and foreground, Levels, Overlay layer to darken sky and help merge sky and foreground, Brightness/Contrast, Selective Color to bring out green in hillside.

The colors here are absolutely stunning. The bridge just leads my eye to the background and then back up front again. This must be something to see in person.

This is awesome. The water looks like it may have been dyed that colour! The composition is wonderful.

I'm a big fan of sweeping lines - and this photo is no exception. The greens are gorgeous and so is the water. Nicely seen.

I don't think you're a chicken for not driving in snow. You should see people driving here in the rain - ha! It rains so rarely that we all freak out if the ground is wet. Can't imagine doing snow anymore.
