For some, the first taste of oatmeal may qualify as a traumatic memory. :)

I wanted to convey the point of view of a not-so-willing child about to be spoon fed, so I was trying for an everything-blurry-but-the-spoon look (which is moving inexorably towards you, so it's not sharp all the way through, either). Seemed like a perfect choice for a Lensbaby, so I used that, with a wide angle macro accessory lens attached to it.

Yes, I know the spoon isn't completely in focus - but that's exactly how I wanted it. :)

Choosing to put a Lensbaby shot in a challenge is likely score suicide...well, we'll see.

browsing your portfoli I just noticed this was way underrated, was in my top 10. had never guessed this would be possible with a lensbaby, focus and DOF are excellent, as is the idea.

This conveys the idea perfectly! Well done. DPC usually doesn't like this kind of processing, so don't bother about the score.

Magnificent photo. Strong connection to the challenge. Well thought out and really brings back the memories (not oatmeal per say, but along the similar lines). Worthy of a high score just for the recollection purposes.

Ahhh funny! I think I even did this to my own kids. And they still spit it back out of course. I think the focus is perfect because that is all the kid's really gonna focus on - the food! They don't care what color your shirt is! hehe Great interpretation.

The pinkish shirt looks the same color as the hand and chin, creating a disturbing fleshy blob in the background. I had a peculiarly difficult reaction to it, like you've found some sort of subtle epilepsy within me.

I remember doing this, but not having it done to me. :) You did a good job of creating the image you imagined. I like the lens baby shallow DOF here.

As a parent of two sometimes slow eating children, I can certainly understand this photo. IMO it is a very good depiction for this challenge.

I like how the spoon looks so big! The perspective you gave this works for me.
I had to laugh when I read your title. I still do that to my grandbabies.

Great interpretation. The shadows are a bit strong for me and the DOF on the shallow side. My first reaction to the composition was to wish that you had included more of the person holding the spoon. After a few moments I warmed up to the subtle impled connection (we all know what's going on off frame) and the strength of the child's POV. Nice placement of the spoon.

Hmmm, I like how just a small, a very small part of the face is shown. Otherwise, the image isn't pleasing, the colours seem odd, the food isn't appealing... They don't necessarily have to be, but, with a funny title and a message like that, I think it should.

Great color and dof. This of course makes me giggle as I wonder if that's oatmeal... or what?

Like the idea! Little clearer focus on the spoonful could improve it but I like the fun of the idea and the scale kinda makes it look like a giant spoon :)

blown out details detract from the image, try shooting in raw and correcting next time.
