 the PowWow was held in an old high school gymnasium, with about 10 different circles of drumemrs surrounding the gym floor. A man with a portable mike goes from group to group, giving each a turn to beat the drum (VERY LOUDLY) and they accompany the rhythm with this chanting high pitched singing, very melodic, almost entrancing..

I went to a PowWow once at a university near our home. It was the most awesome experience. The banging of the big drums is so rhythmic and calming.
