 Cartesia wanted to play in the kitchen sink and I figured it would be a good opportunity to try to get something for the "eyes" challenge or maybe a side challenge. Side challenge won.

Not often we see her this focused. It is amazing what something interesting can do for a child's attention span. Great detail in the eye and I like how the hair frames her face.

Really great portrait shot. I like the details and DOF. A learning lighting question would be..When do you have too much light? The amount on her face looks great, but if I saw this on the back of my camera in color I would think it's too bright. My 2nd week photo, looked too bright to me on the camera but looked good once I put it on the computer (and still could be brighter I think) and the ones that I thought looked good were too dark. I'm very new to portrait photography...is there something you should look for that is the right amount of light or is it all personal preference?

You nailed the focus is the eye!

I played around with cropping a little, the hairs in the upper right corner don't add much. I thinh cropped so that the eye would be in the upper third, slighlty on the right side would focus the viewer more to the face.

Perfect focus and a perfect catpture. Her expression is one of concentration, or it even could be boredom. A photographic mona lisa. I also really like the lighting on the hair and the stray hairs

This is just magic. Focus is perfect - I love the eyes. The textures in the skin and hair are dreamy. I wish I could take shots like this. And the plastic 50mm f/1.8 is a great little lens, hey!
