Not much to this one, just trying not to fall behind. The lock has become the home of a spider. Some dodging and burning and selective sharpening. Copied the image and sharpened the whole thing, then wen back and masked out parts I didn't want sharp.
I forgot to add, that I also selectively added film grain. The effect was to strong in the highlights and erased them out.

"Not much to this one." Nothing could be further from the truth. Wonderful image with depth and feel, textures and tones to die for. Excellent.

Nice old feel to this. It makes me wonder what the lock is being used for. I like the contrast between the numbers on the lock and the rest of the image.

Thanks for the editing steps, really helpfull :) For me the left 3rd is kind of redundant though understand it might complete the overall scene setting. I'd have preferred a nice close up of the lock. Excellent conversion btw and agree with other commenters its much better than the colour version.

Can't get beyond the thought that this is a stunning exercise in BW conversion and tons of stuff I'll probably never advance to. I mean this in a good way; could spend a lot of time looking at the 2 photos side by side.

That is one very busy spider. I wonder what it thinks it's captured? I like the crop that you used to bring the focus in closer to the dial. I like how the dial and numbers really pop out now compared to your original.

First of all, neat shot. I keep trying to find the spider. Second of all, your processing steps fascinate me. I really need to learn to selectively do things to an image - it adds tremendous depth and "feel".

I really love this one. Subject matter is sort of ordinary, but the photo is not.

Very creepy. If I needed to lock something up, I'd make a 30 minute run to the hardware store rather than reach for that thing. :) And excellent processing. The shots works much better in B&W.

Whoa, nice and grungy. I love the effect. It's amazing the way that in black and white it looks artsy and interesting -- so much more so than the color version. Makes me pause and take more interest in the ordinary things aroundme -- how often they can become art!

A bit of an abstract feel.

Old, ancient, corroded, partially buried - the use of these visual metaphors can produce very emotive photos, you remind me.

Oh my! That is creepy! I do like it better in b/w. I want to know what size of spider lives there ..

Nice photo of something that most of use would have been unhappy to deal with. Including the spider would have gotten you bonus points. :-)

the grain created by the soft areas really gives this a feel of film/ remembering to finish a photo for a side challenge - not simply cropping and desaturating is a thing I need to remember!
