I really like this shot - the softness with the sand really stands out against the 'graininess' of the bird (not sure if that is intentional or just how the feathers/markings appear). |

the low angle of the light and the textures of the rocks really helps this image become perfectly balanced and enjoyable to view |

I like the composition of this. The bird has great detail and the scattered rocks add more interest to the picture. I think a little more contrast between the bird and sand would really make the bird stand out more. |

Unusual ediiting on the bird but it works well :) My only thought would be to clone out the white spots on the uppermost left and right rocks. Also, I'm confused as to how/why the uppermost left stone appears to be in focus. Great crop to get the perfect composition :) |

This is definitely not boring. The background is interesting because of the different shapes and sizes of the rocks. I love seeing the bird feet splash thru the sand. And it's also cool that the bird is looking at you. This is a fun and interesting capture.

Really like the tones in the wet sand and rocks.. Sea Bird comes across as a nice texture well presented in the frame.. You have a knack for placing subject in the frame..
Extremely nice image!!

Very nice capture - I really like the composition and I like the texture/background of the rocks interspersed in the sand. You may want to go in and "heal" some of the bright spots on the rocks just a bit. A few of them catch the eye (mostly the three in the top part of the picture.) |

Love the composition. This one certainly works well in black and white. |

Great detail and composition. The horizontal striations in the sand provide a nice contrast with the legs of the bird. |

Nice - plenty of contrast to help the subject standout from the background. |

You remind me that placing a subject in the right part of the frame creates a pleasant viewing experience. Competent photographic images induce the viewer to be relaxed - whether they know anything about photography or not. |

A bird yes, but this shot has so much character and interest because of the rocks and soft texture of the sand with the birds graining coat. Looks almost as if he is posing for you as he dances in the sand. The tones are perfect from the dark rocks to the soft white feather. I love it, can you tell? |

Nice light and details on the bird. Love the patterns produced by the stones in the sand. IMHO I wonder whether this should have been your bird main challenge entry. |

Trying to work out which photos look best in colour or black and white is half the battle between failure and success I think - and something that I haven't yet mastered. This is one that works extremely well in BW. The tonal range is excellent, and the sandpiper (?) stands out well from the lovely striated sand. All in all, excellent work. |
